Mike Wandling is an Assistant Professor of Surgery and the Assistant Trauma Medical Director at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, Texas. Dr. Wandling completed his medical school and general surgery residency at Northwestern University, where he also completed a post-doctoral research fellowship and earned a master’s degree in health services and outcomes research. He then completed an acute care surgery fellowship at The University of Texas in Houston. Dr. Wandling’s clinical practice consists primarily of trauma surgery and surgical critical care at Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center, where more than 11,000 trauma patients are treated each year. His research interests include evaluating the quality and efficiency of operative and non-operative care in trauma and emergency general surgery. He also helps lead the ACS NSQIP Emergency General Surgery Registry.
